Australian Wool Innovation AWI & Timerite

AWI is a public, not-for-profit company that is owned by and works solely for the benefit of Australian woolgrowers. We are constantly delivering new and better means to increase the demand for Australian wool, boost the prosperity of growers and protect our natural resources.

Our mission is to drive research, development and innovation that will increase the long-term profitability of Australian woolgrowers.

AWI initiates, commissions and delivers research and development (R&D) to Australian woolgrowers. We work through alliances and contracts and, where possible, we commercialise R&D outcomes. Our primary aim is the adoption of technology - on farm and along the global wool pipeline.

Timerite® is an online tool developed by AWI and CSIRO that provides the optimal spray date for the effective control of RLEM for your local area. By spraying on your Timerite® date in spring, optimal control is achieved in the following Autumn when annual legumes are most susceptible.

Timerite® has been tested over a period of seven years on 60 farms across southern Australia. On average a single spray at the Timerite® date in spring resulted in a 93% RLEM control in autumn eight months later.
